I spent 13 years in the U.S. Army, finishing as a Civil Affairs Team Sergeant. The job was planning, accountability and getting people through complicated situations with the facts in front of them.
After the Army I taught for three years as a special educator in Prince George's County Public Schools. That work was about explaining hard things clearly and making sure nobody got left behind.
